 Ways to Give

Contributions of funds

Contributions of funds are especially appreciated since funds can be immediately applied towards our most pressing needs, including maintenance of the collection.  Donors may request that their annual gifts accumulate toward a specific acquisition or architectural project.

Contributions to the Department of State should be made by check payable to “U.S. Department of State” and sent to M/FA-Rm 8213, Diplomatic Reception Rooms, Department of State, 2201 C Street, NW, Washington, DC 20520.

Contributions of securities

Gift of securities may be made directly to the Department of State.  There are, however, strict requirements for processing such contributions.  Donors considering such a gift should contact the Curator before doing so.

Contributions of Property

Contributions of desired objects and property including real estate are particularly welcomed. Interested donors should contact the Curator of Collections.

Bequests

Owners of fine American furniture, paintings, and decorative arts are invited to remember the Diplomatic Reception Rooms in their wills.  By providing for their disposition in one’s will, objects on loan may become part of the collection of the Diplomatic Reception Rooms in due course.  A number of distinguished collectors of Americana are now making the U.S. Department of State the beneficiary of their wills to assure a permanent place for their family treasures.  Bequests of funds are especially desired.  Please contact the Curator.

Acknowledgments

All contributions will be acknowledged by letter along with a statement describing the contribution, the amount or value of the contribution, and the date of the contribution.
