Part of a set, which was the private commission of King Louis-Philippe to commemorate the journey that he, together with his two brothers, made in the Spring of 1797 through the north-eastern portion of the United States. This view is understood to have been painted by Marilhat from watercolors executed by an artist who accompanied the then Prince Louis-Philippe.
